Hampstead. A New Build Infill Development.
What did we do?
Redeveloping a lost parcel of land in a Central London location.
How to sensitively incorporate a development in a dense urban location!
Brass Architecture have worked tirelessly to formulate optimal residential returns for a notable site located in West Hampstead, North London. The existing ‘scrap of land’ is sandwiched between existing residential plots. Our new build insertion sits comfortably within this tight urban setting.

Our team have meticulously developed a proposal befitting of LPA consent. The LPA and client agreed the return aesthetics (whilst respectful of context) should be representative of architecture befitting 2024/ 25.
Careful design development allowed for return units of varying sizes, sustainably minded, with all apartments and associative amenity spaces exceeding LPA policy.
Liaisons with the LPA whilst lengthy, ensured the correct support from key stakeholders.
This project, like many in our portfolio, tests the set LPA policies in place.
We robustly argued that designing stringently to meet policy returns, results in uninspiring architectural returns. We can achieve so much more.

The development is meaningful, impactful, and received no objections from the local community.
We believe the derived architecture is reflective of schemes local communities wish to see come forward; units added, whilst not greedy or directly impactful on existing (neighbouring) residents.
The scheme received approval in Jan 2024, with site mobilisation earmarked for the Summer of 2024.
